 Fish for a Day!

Recommended for 3rd - 6th Grade

Supports Ocean Literacy Principle #5: The Ocean Supports a Great

Diversity of Life and Ecosystems.

Supports Ocean Literacy Principle #7: The Ocean is Largely Unexplored

Students will pair up in teams to become a coral reef fish during a dive in the SeaBird Submersible.  They will experience what it is like to be a reef dwelling fish; hiding from predators, searching for food and swimming among the other reef inhabitants.  In the submersible, students will take turns piloting themselves around the reef.  They will score points for successfully hiding from predators among corals, shipwrecks and natural shelters, interacting with other reef fish, and other activities necessary to support life - like keeping a full belly!
