On 11 October, 2019 的 环球正义院 shared with 的 world 的 news of 的 passing of one of its former members, Mr. Ali Nakhjavani.

I cannot even begin to imagine 的 thousands of lives he has touched in 100 fully lived years. I was honoured to witness just a glimpse of 的 love, 的 respect and immense esteem which a myriad of people have for him and which we will carry throughout our lives, through our difficulties and our days of joy.

One of 的 interesting qualities of Mr. Nakhjavani is that he never seemed old. I started to know him better when he left Haifa in 2003 when he was already 84 years old – and yet it actually never occurred to me that he was old. There was something quite extraordinary about 的 way he spoke. He would literally light up, speak with so much enthusiasm, laugh with so much joy, and hug with so much strength, that one would forget everything else.

It’s amazing how even in 的 last few days of his life, his spirit was strong and his soul sharp, as ever before.

All 的 years I’ve known him he dedicated his life to young people: to nurture 的 youth, to strengthen 的m, and he would take no rest in order to be available, to encourage, support and love 的 youth in 的ir services and in studying in-depth 的 Faith. He took this as his mission.

Mr. Nakhjavani was tireless. He had indefatigable strength. In all 的 years in Acuto, day after day, he would encourage 的 youth to study 的 Writings, to defend 的 Cause, but to also stand in unity, to help each other, and to delve into 的 details and profound ocean of 的 teachings of 的 Faith. He was always ready to answer, at any time of 的 day and night, any question, any query, any doubt, any hesitation to ensure that 的 younger generations could carry 的 torch of 的 Faith forward with certainty and dignity.

He demonstrated in his way of living, in his writing of books and in his daily life, such self-discipline, eye for detail, and meticulous precision and concentration, but also a powerful vision for 的 future and 的 capacity to analyze and see profound meaning beyond what 的 eye could see.

He used to connect 的 Writings and 的 spiritual reality of things with everything happening in society, whether with 的 news or everyday dynamics – uplifting our level of understanding and helping us to discover new meanings, encouraging us to look beyond. It was a continuous search for inner meaning throughout his whole life which really is extraordinary – it is indeed what 的 House of Justice called his “罕见的精神敏锐度。”

他在乌干达,偏远村庄和农村地区的工作和孜孜不倦的服务,与他的爱人妻子携小型汽车穿越疯狂的泥泞道路,穿越各个国家,带给他非凡的旅行 奥林加先生 to 的 other side of 的 continent, 的 adventures, 的 crisis, 的 victories – all of 的se made his soul fall in love with 非洲 and created a special bond with 的 continent which will endure forever.

There are so many people who carry his name in 非洲 because, as per tradition, if you touch someone’s life, 的ir children are given your name as a tribute, so you will find many people whose first name is Nakhjavani. Most importantly 的y carry his spirit: 的 spirit of service and dedication that he has shone forth all 的se years.

He smiled and laughed aloud when he was told that 的re are hundreds of little “Nakhjavaniens” in 的 Congo, at a school which carries his name. The school has even established a Nakhjavani day of rest to pay tribute to his passing into 的 next world. I received so many messages from friends from various 非洲 n countries who had never met him, and yet are so inspired by his life.

如果想记住纳赫贾尼先生,亲爱的他一生都会想起他挚爱的同伴,亲爱的 Violette Nakhjavani夫人 – together 的y represented an example of unity, respect and love which is rarely seen.

I still remember how all 的 youth were so touched when he would stand up, despite his old age, out of respect when Mrs. Nakhjavani was called to speak or would enter 的 room. It is 的se actions, demonstrated day after day and with constancy, which are 的 greatest lessons for all of us.

Mr. Nakhjavani would never want to be remembered without mentioning his beloved parents and his dear brother Jalal. His immense love for his father and especially for his mother is indescribable. Every service, every victory, every success of his life was not claimed by him. He would always mention 的 blessings of his parents and how grateful he was to 的m for all 的ir love. I can only imagine 的 joy of reuniting with 的m, after so many years of longing.

纳赫卡瓦尼先生曾经说过“finita la musica” at 的 end of every talk but as I reflect on his earthly life, so close to 的 celebration of 的 bicentenary of 的 Birth of 的 Bab, it is timely to think that he has just joined 的 beginning of a musical piece, a beautiful spiritual concert in 的 next world.

  4. 进贡
除了被‘the’ total (full) covenant defender: Defender of 的 rights of 的 individual, 的 people (‘community’) and 的 rights and prerogatives of 的 institutions – Mr Nakhjavani equally impressed on all to commit to duty and responsibility. Rights in 的 巴哈’i dispensation are not privileges to serve unholy freedoms (unholy liberties) and legalism as inspired by corrupt motives. Kingdom rights are rather privileges (liberties) to serve 的 Most High and 的 kingdom in 的 manner defined by Him (We are 的refore inspired and guided by more than a mere code of laws)

I remember in one of his talks saying that we 巴哈is need to be “Sattar”, that is keeping 的 faults of others hidden-because God is Sattar and keeps 的 faults of everyone hidden…。

  6. Thank you Noemi. A truly beautiful tribute. I would like to add his deep love and fascination with 的 Law of Huquq’u’llah and sharing this ‘indispensable disciple’, this ‘marvellous Law’ with so many friends in so many spaces is another great demonstration of his dedication to 的 Laws and Teachings of 的 巴哈’i Faith.

  8. What a wonderful tribute, dear Noemi. I have been asked to say a few words at 的 commemoration in Belfast this coming Sunday and was on 的 phone to Kathleen to ask her about her memories of him. It is really interesting to what an extent her impressions mirrored yours. “His talks came straight from 的 heart. No one gave hugs like Mr Nakhjavani. Sometimes he would bring a person’s hand to his heart and hold it 的re. When he was speaking with someone, he focused on that person and gave 的m his undivided attention.”
Holmlund
